Jr High KC Chiefs Spirit Week

Third graders have been learning about fossils through time and how scientists use animals from today to compare features and learn more about the fossils from the past.
Today students got to see if they could outrun a dinosaur! Few were successful, but it was a great day of outdoor learning in beautiful weather!



Mr. Barnes' American History students form alliances and go to war learning about World War I.

He will be practicing and performing February 22 - 24 in Wichita during the KMEA Music Convention!
Nancy Kelley came to our 7th grade Kansas History classes today to tell us about the Ghost Towns of Woodson County. It was very informative and the students learned about ghost towns like Belmont, Keck, Crandall, Kalida, Defiance, and Bramlette. Thank you Ms. Kelley!

First grade celebrated Kansas Day today. Mrs. Wendland came to talk about her honeybees. They made a sunflower and with real sunflower seeds, and they had a birthday party for Kansas.



Third graders had Nancy Kelley from the Woodson County Historical Society come speak to them today about the founding of Yates Center. They learned about Abner Yates and all about the founding of Woodson County.


6th, 7th, and 8th grade music students represented YC at the Southeast Kansas Music Educators Association All-District Honor choirs for Elementary and Middle School and All-District Honor Band for Middle School in Pittsburg on Saturday (January 27).
