Saturday, January 13th was the first outing of the new year for YCHS students of the Scholars' Bowl team. Competing were Harley Hoag, Lauren Schultz, Clayton Culver, Cooper O'Brien, and Jeremiah Jones at the varsity 10 team round robin competition held at Iola. YC earned 5th place on the day with a 6 win/ 3 loss record. The young freshman and sophomore team competed well against other mostly larger schools. Third Graders had the opportunity to listen to Farmer Bill Johnston today on agriculture in Kansas. Bill travels all around Kansas teaching students the importance of ag. 3rd grade has completed their corn unit in science with Mrs. Price and both Mrs. Price and Mrs. Hanzlicek were complimented on how much the students knew. Bill is also on the videos students watched with the corn unit and they were excited to meet him in real life.
High School Basketball Schedule Change: Pleasanton game scheduled for Friday will be TOMORROW; Thursday, January 11th with a start time of 5:30. Varsity Girls in HS gym and JV boys in elementary gym. Varsity Boys game will follow Varsity Girls game. 1/2 JV Girls game will follow boys JV game. Games are in Pleasanton.
Attached are the brackets for next week's War on 54 High School Basketball Tournament in Iola. Both YCHS teams will play at the elementary gym on Tuesday. Go CATS!
USD #366 WILL be IN SESSION tomorrow, January 10th and run normal schedule. As parents/guardians you have the final decision on whether or not to send your child to school . It will be considered an excused absence if you decide to keep your child home due to conditions.
Reminder, Tonight's High School Basketball games @ SE Cherokee are postponed. Reschedule date will be posted soon.
Due to low visibility, there will be no school for USD #366 Tuesday, January 9th.

Due to the weather, we are cancelling the after school 6-8 grade conditioning with Mrs. Cummings. Hope to have it Wednesday!!
6-8 grade students that are interested in Monday and Wednesday after school conditioning at the elementary gym, we will start this Monday!! There will be NO activity bus for this, you must find your own ride home after the activity. It will be over at 4:30. Contact Carrie Cummings if you have questions.
