Continuous Learning
I’ve visited with nearly all instructional staff regarding how things were going with their efforts to continue to provide educational opportunities. From what I gleaned from the information I received is the elementary is seeing good participation, with less involvement coming from the high school. Of those that are having participation in the online process, the reports are the classes are going well.
The biggest thing I've heard from the teachers is how much they miss their students. Having been in several school districts in my career, I can tell you; you have some very dedicated teachers in the Woodson School District who are willing to go above and beyond their duties to take care of their students. You should be very proud of these professionals!
Student Contact
Please have your students check their school email accounts. I’m receiving reports from teachers; they are attempting to communicate with students and aren’t getting responses from the students. Any help you can provide in this manner would be appreciated.
Census Information
This is a good time to complete the Census. It is easier than ever to respond to the Census--online, by phone, or by mail—all without having to meet a census taker. Visit 2020Census.gov to complete the Census online or call (844) 330-2020 to talk to a live Census employee who can help you complete it by phone. The census information is vital to Woodson County, and the State of Kansas since most federal programs that support the county and state operate off of census data.
DCF to Distribute Emergency Food Assistance Benefit
Kansans to receive the maximum benefit
Governor Laura Kelly and Department for Children and Families Secretary Laura Howard today announced the agency would begin issuing an emergency food assistance benefit to current program households. The emergency allotment increases a household’s monthly allowance to the maximum allowed for the size of the family. The maximum monthly benefit for a family of four is $646.
No application is necessary to receive emergency funds.
Families should start to see their March emergency benefit on their EBT card beginning April 15. The distribution will follow the standard alphabetical schedule.
DCF will distribute April emergency benefits in mid to late May.
Households that already receive the maximum monthly allotment are not eligible for emergency assistance. The allocation is for March and April only.
